Job Description

We are seeking highly qualified (NYS certified) applicants to apply to this vacancy – Special Education (ALL GRADES) OR Permanent Special Education OR Students with Disabilities (Adolescent Grades 7-12) OR Students with Disabilities (Middle Childhood Grades 5-9) However, we will consider individuals who are currently in the process of obtaining their NYS certification and will be certified by September 1, 2026.  

Teacher expectations overview:     

• Knowledge of NYS Instructional Standards in special education and differentiated instructional strategies  

• Excellent student engagement skills with a goal of achieving mastery through a variety of instructional strategies appropriate to each student         

• Effective classroom management skills      

• Excellent parent engagement and relationship building skills  

• Participates with colleagues as a collaborative team player      

• Understands urban schools and communities                            

• Supports the district's goals of equity, literacy and graduation concerning all students.

• Ability to inspire students to learn and make learning fun  

• Models a growth mindset
